OK. well i just sold my 2003 yamaha ttr250. I was hoping to get a 2005 or 2006 4 stroke race bike, however i came across a 2005 rmz450 for 2300. Would the 450 be way too much power that i am not ready for? Should i stick to the search for the 250s? or isnt the 450 that much more powerful than the 250. any input will be appreciated

lol a 450 is much more powerful than your ttr250 but in my opinion u should get a 450 you will never get bored of it ? also on a 450 you probably wont be pushing it to limit so the valves will also last longer. Hmm also those who sell cheap 4-strokes bikes usually need to change the valves after 5-10h of driving :/.

Just ask yourself - do you feel strong? Yes get a 450

what type of riding do you do/want to do? if it's woods then I suggest something other than a 450. They're heavy as hell and it well definitely have more power than your old ttr.

I think the biggest complaint was the 4-speed trans. I never really minded that on the older YZFs.

Maybe you could see if you could test ride it to get an idea what the power will be like.
