moto949 Posted March 25, 2010 i believe the 05 is not as wide. search for the 05 06 fork swap it will tell you.
CaptDan Posted March 26, 2010 First, some background information (all numbers are for YZ125)... The 2002-3 top triple clamp is p/n 5NL-23435-00-00 (with cast-in bar mounts) The 2004 top triple clamp is p/n 5XE-23435-00-00 (with cast-in bar mounts) The 2005 top triple clamp is p/n 5XE-23435-20-00 (with cast-in bar mounts) The 2006-2010 top triple clamp is p/n 1C3-23435-50-00 (with bolt-on bar mounts) The 2003 bottom triple clamp is p/n 5UN-23340-L0-00 The 2004 bottom triple clamp is p/n 5XE-23340-L0-00 The 2005 bottom triple clamp is p/n 1C3-23340-L0-00 (change to aluminum frame) The 2006-2010 bottom triple clamp is p/n 1C3-23340-M0-00 The 2002-4 front axle is p/n 5BE-23435-00-00 The 2005-7 front axle is p/n 1C3-25181-10-00 The 2002-7 axle collars (spacers) are 5NY-25183-00-00 & 5NY-25186-00-00 2008-2010 axle & spacers change to 5XC-xxxxx-G0-00 They all run a 5NY- front wheel. So, According to the part numbers… Any triple clamp assy 2003 and older is out. Any top clamp from 2004-on should fit. Any lower clamp from 2005-on should fit. (I have heard that the lower clamp change in 2005 was in the fork stops -- due to the change to an aluminum frame. Because the top clamp is carryover from 2004, we can only assume the distance between the fork legs remained unchanged. 👍) The front axle changed between ’04 & ’05, yet the front wheel and spacers are the same from ’02 to ’07, again leading us to assume the distance between the fork legs remained unchanged.🤣 The front axle and spacers changed in ’08, yet the front wheel and upper & lower clamps remained unchanged. I know this runs counter to much discussion on this topic (distance between the fork legs), but all I have to work with is the part numbers (and we're learning those can be suspect), so don't shoot the messenger! This is what I read before, but don't have any experience with it.
cr85_supermini03 Posted March 26, 2010 I dont think any top clamp but 06 up would fit it got a new numberplate which changed how it was held on did it not?
shrubitup Posted March 26, 2010 I dont think any top clamp but 06 up would fit it got a new numberplate which changed how it was held on did it not? Yes, the bottom clamp holds the front numberplate differently than the 05 and older one. Yamasaki, nice bike. Love the white everywhere. 👍 CaptDan, great research!

I may have to find an '04 YZ125 to directly compare with our '06 and find out exactally what changed. Thanks!
