moabrules1 Posted March 26, 2010 Yeah, I was changing out my clutch fluid and ran DOT 5.1 through it before I realized that I needed to run the Magura mineral oil. Do you think I've trashed any seals in the system? I immediately flushed out the brake fluid after I realized it. BTW, I tried bleeding the system by pushing fluid into the reservoir via the bleeder with a syringe but the bleeder bolt didn't seem to be sealed properly. Fluid seemed to leak out of the threads when I pushed it in. I finally just pumped the lever a bunch of times and cracked the bleeder and ran the res down a few adding fluid along the way with the intent of evacuating all air from the sys. Is there any way to adjust the stroke of the slave cyl? The reason I did all this is because my bike doesn't want to start in gear (it did last year when it was new; 64 hrs on it now) and I thought I may have a little air in the line, causing the clutch to drag. Doing this work didn't seem to help.
VilleKTM Posted March 26, 2010 You may be allright. The brake fluid didn´t have much time to attack the seals. It´s normal to clutch fluid to leak thru threads . Just keep on pushing a good amount of fresh fluid thru the system (keep an recptacle under the MC to catch overflowing fluid) and you´ll get the air out. Pumping the lever accomplishes nothing. It´s not a brake system and can´t be bled as such.
Throttlejockey Posted March 26, 2010 As for the clutch drag. Have you checked the clutch basket for wear? The plates will notch out the basket causing the plates to drag.
