Athena 440 BB Kit Reliability

Recommended Posts

Hi guys i'm looking at putting a bigbore kit on my DR-Z soon and eventually somewhere later down the line a hot rods stroker crank (+4mm) and all the RHC SSW goodies and 187 cams either intake or both

I know the most reliable cylinder size concerning cylinder head sealing issues is 434cc but as the +5mm crank is no longer readily availble gaining a 470cc DR-Z with a 434 is no longer possible , i believe with the 440 and the +4mm crank 475cc is achieved

so a couple of questions here really, for those who have used the athena 440 kit have you had any reliability issues with the kit

given that the athena is nearly double the price of the 434cc kit is that extra few cc's really worth the hp that will be gained ??

Buy whichever is cheaper..CyllinderWorks or Athena..They are both 434 cc's (94mm) and reliable.

The 434(5) kit + 4mm stroke will net a 462 if I remember correctly.

Im not sure where youre getting the 440 numbers from. The Athena kit is a 435.

apex racing or atv unlimted do good deals for JE piston / cylinderwork kits on fleabay. Cylinderworks cylinders are great in my limited experience.
