starter doesnt work when cold

Recommended Posts

i have a 2006 model and if i go to start the bike in the morning the relay just clicks, and the starter does not turn over. but if i go out riding for a half hour or so then stop, the starter works like a charm. what could this be? the battery is charged. thanks

- loose connections at the battery

- loose ground wire on starter

- loose harness or corroded

- auto decompresor out of adjustment

- battery has a bad cell

Pull off the tank and seat and check everything. Battery should read 13.9 volts with the bike running if the cells are good.

The X starter is NOT like a street bikes. It's just a convenience feature, and everyone has issues with it at one time or another.

You need to keep your battery attached to a battery tender.
