Bennyh Posted March 28, 2010 Hi guys, I am looking at making some oversize break discs for a honda 450, I know that a grade stainless steel is used. I have heard of people using "400" grade. what would be best for making them? I have access to a computer laser cutter so i can cut nearly any material. grayracer513 My Ride Posted March 28, 2010 Rotors from Braking and EBC are high carbon steel alloys. One of the differences is that steel rotors produce more friction in conjunction with most brake pads, and therefore have more braking power. Of course, they are also prone to rust unless kept dry, but that's another thing. Sorry I don't have any specific information on alloys for you other than that. zwr250f Posted March 30, 2010 You'll have to harden them, I believe. You should take an existing one and do a harness test on it.
