DRZ kicker hard to start after warmed up!

Recommended Posts

I have a 2001 DRZ 400 kicker only. The first start of the day is really easy. It starts right away. But after it warms up it is very hard. it will bump start warm but when I try to kick start it it takes forever.? Is this due to valves being out of clearance or could it be something else? I have a hot start on the Carb but it still doesn't work when hot. if I let the bike cool off for 20 minutes or so it will start easily again.

Hey Eddie! My intake is at .006/.152 and the Exhaust is .11/.279. The bike is all stock. It was bought brand new off the showroom floor in 2001 and only ridden for a year or so and then stored in a garage until i bought it last August. Are the clearances I have real bad?

You should take out the carb , give it a good cleaning and probably change the pilot jet ,as these could be hard to get really clean.

Should also check the filter at the top of the petcock(You will have to take the petcock out)
