2005 CRF 450R engine woes

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know what could cause a drop in low-end power? Top end and valves are both fresh. Engine just seems to have lost its "bark". I am riding a gear higher everywhere!!!

👍

Did this problem start after the fresh valves?

The reason I ask is, if the problem started after the valve replacement, you may have it 1 tooth out of time.

Just a dumb question but are you riding a gear higher or a gear lower? I would think that if you where running a gear higher you would be in a lower rpm range than if you were a gear Lower?? Timing sounds like the culprit though. Have you checked the valve clearance since you broke them in?

Thank you guys for the advice. That sounds like a possibility. It just seemed strange to be riding most tracks in 3rd and 4th gear, and now 2nd and 3rd!

The problem has actually been around before and after the valve job.

It might not be broken in yet. Mine was lazy after a rebuild, then at about 2-3hrs all the power and more came back like a switch. It was sweet!

I was bummed too for awhile, until it finished seating the rings.
