losttoof501 Posted March 29, 2010 i was wondering if the clutch, ignition, and cam covers off an '09 would fit on my '08 motor. i cracked the ignition cover 2 weekends ago, and the weld job aint holding up i like the black covers on the '09 so might as well go through with it since im trying to clean up the bike. 👍
D-K Posted March 29, 2010 No they are different. Just paint them the color you like, powder coating would be preferrable. Well, now that I think about it, the cam cover is the same (the new mount doesn´t affect it). But just paint that one too while you do the others...
losttoof501 Posted March 29, 2010 i have already considered powdercoating, and was very close to going through with it. but im afraid of the heat weakening the covers during the process. since i put a hole in my ignition cover i have realized how delicate magnesium really is. D-K Posted March 30, 2010 I don´t think it becomes brittle because of the oven it passes through when powder coating. Never heard of that it would. Maybe someone who has done it can chime in?
