05 450 EXC questions

I went and looked at an 05 450 exc today. I am coming from a DRZ. Previously I had Husaberg 650, DR 650, XR650 and XR600. So the bike runs good, very clean but used. The bike have a few noises, but my Husaberg had more. From what I've read most of the KTM RFS bikes make a some noise....what kind of noise should I hear?? I am assuming that I could somehow add a key for ignition interrupt...anyone do this before?

What should I be looking for on the bike? How much would a good condition 05 450exc go for....what do you consider a fair price?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I have an 05 450 exc with a factory 540 kit and some mild head porting.

The RFS motors are famous for their reliability and durability. But thier area few noteworthy things to look for.

-The bottom short screen filter plug is prone to seizure.

- check the oil filter cover bolts. they are easy to strip out.

- a little noise is ok, most of it is from the cam chain tensioner.

- Make sure the oil site level glass is intact and not cracked. (an easy fix)

- The lower PDS shock mount can get pretty beat up under hard use. (another easy fix)

In Socal an 05 450 EXC in stock form, in good condition can get between 2800 to 3500.
