PAKDXYZ Posted March 29, 2010 I am planning on getting a flywheel weight for my 97 kx 250. I was on stealthys website and they have an 8,10,12oz. They have a page with recommendations for what would suit you best but they must be redoing their site because it is a blank page. Anyway I just wanted to see what sizes people have and what you would recommend. I ride mostly trails so I am leaning towards the 12oz. but am not quite sure yet. I know the more weight the more it mellows out the bike but I don't want to lose all of my hit.
Jeekinz My Ride Posted March 29, 2010 I heard the heavier the better since there's really no difference with lighter ones. It wont hurt the power of that 97, that's for sure.

I had it out yesterday for the first time after break in since the new bottom end, replated cylinder, and new wiesco piston kit.... wow. This was the first time riding a fresh 250 for me and the hardest part was trying to keep the front wheel down.
Jeekinz My Ride Posted March 29, 2010 The 97's have balls.
OLHILLBILLY My Ride Posted March 29, 2010 I put a 9oz on a '03 YZ250, couldn't tell really any change at all. I'd say you'll have to go with the 12oz for it to have any noticable effect.
Gotlabs Posted March 30, 2010 I just put an 11oz sfb fww on my 02 and it made a noticeable difference.
The Spanky My Ride Posted March 30, 2010 11oz seems to be the sweet spot for KX250s.
Outlaw525 Posted March 30, 2010 I run a 13 on mine (05) and would like a little more. I'm 100% woods though.

Jakerps13 Posted March 30, 2010 I am going to go with the 12oz. stealthy for sure. Thanks for the input. You'll like it. Helps out huge in the tight technical stuff along with somewhat higher gearing.
makKX250 Posted March 30, 2010 And it will help keep traction when in the slick stuff - the rear wheel won't be so prone to spinning up. I run a 11 oz on my '06.
