89 yz250 resto/customize

Recommended Posts

Hey I have been very slowely buying parts and stripping and cleaning parts on my 89 yz250. This bike will be a track/trail bike. I know its old but I'm also willing to spend the money to bring it back to life.

Here's a list of what I have bought so far.

New crank bearings/seals (already installed and yamabonded cases back together)

fmf fatty pipe (used on ebay but is new condition)

fmf power core silencer (new)

boyesen rad valve (used body but new reeds)

standard bore piston kit (it came with the bike)

La sleeve new sleeve (new on ebay for $35 shipped) For when cylinder needs resleeved. Hey I couldn't pass on that price.

New power valve ( $90)

New power valve spring and arm

Original sleeve bored and honed to .75mm or .030" over

new wiseco 68.75mm prolite piston

New front/rear wheel bearings/seals

New rear 19x2.15 pro wheel

New rim lock front/rear and rim bands

New moose HD tubes front/rear

New rear buchanan HD spoke kit

New rear 92 rear fender/side panels

New rad shrouds

New chain chain rollers top/bottom

New swing arm chain slider

New moose chain guide

New swing arm bearings/seals

New moose air filter

I still have to buy front fender/number plate 99 and older. That and a set of EVO bars.

I probably left out some little things. I still have to get my frame powder coated. I'm getting the frame Pc'd for free. So I'm just waiting till the person tells me to bring it over. Sucks though there on vacation the rest of the week. I also still have to take my suspension to pro-motion to be revalved and resprung. Once I get the frame PC'd I can get to putting everything back together. I know its ALOT of money. But I'm gonna ride it and enjoy it for years to come so I will be getting my money worth out of it.

PICS to come but it might take a while
