2001 KLR Braking

Recommended Posts

So after a long stint of not having a dual sport I recently purchased an 01 klr. Love the bike other than two things, that i'm sure influence eachother. First is the overall weight of the bike. I know there isn't too much that can be done, but any ideas would be appreciated. I saw that Acerebis makes an aftermarket front light assembly and figured it would drop several lbs of the brute. Secondly, the front brakes!!! They just aren't aggressive at all. Feels they aren't putting any pressure on the rotars. I've heard of several people replacing rotars, calipers, and lines. Cost over effectiveness which is best.

Start with braided steel lines & a good bleed. Then pads... like Galfer (they also make lines).
