MX926 Posted March 30, 2010 I have a deep scratch in one of my lower fork legs -04 CR250. I've sanded and polished it, but don't think the seal will hold. Anyone know any used parts shops to try to find one? I've been checking ebay, looks like I might have to buy a whole set of forks, but pickins are slim. New fork leg retails for $240, trying to find a cheaper alternative..
PowerFiend Posted March 30, 2010 There are usually a ton of CRF forks on ebay. Don't forget that the CRF forks are the same except for valving and springs. Your 04 should be the transition to the newer style brake caliper mount so any of the Showa CR/CRF forks 04+ will work.
ADAM BOMB Posted March 30, 2010 Any 47mm fork stantion tube out of cr or crf will do the job. do you have any pics of the damage??
MX926 Posted March 30, 2010 No Pics, but its a very small horizontal scratch thats about 3 inches below the seal. Its deep though, deeper than the fork coating. I'm try to sand off the sharp edges, then I'm going to polish it, and put some Fork Slick on there and hope for the best. I have a feeling though its gonna have to be replaced. I'll keep my eyes on ebay, and get ready to open my wallet I guess.
