random cutting out

Recommended Posts

Guys,

Is this a trait of these bikes or am I just unlucky?

My old engine used to do this a little bit, and my new 'S' engine has done this not so often, but on the way home from work today my bike cut out whilst under acceleration and I had to hit the starter again (it fires up perfectly straight away).

I'm assuming this must be electrical as the carb wouldn't just make it cut out like that?

I've used the original plug lead, is this a consumable?

It might be in my head, but the engine felt like it was losing power a little before it cut out.

Was the bike warmed up all the way? did you pull over to hit the starter or did you do it rolling? and why not clutch start it if rolling? I have had my bike cut out when cold or low on fuel, but it never required a restart.

i think the bike was warm, vapor showed 64 degrees on the coolant sensor.

Could be a red herring but I'm paranoid now.

I didn't clutch start it because it was pissing down and on a corner and didn't fancy locking the rear wheel.
