keihin flatslide pumper

Recommended Posts

ive been given a keihin flatslide pumper carb by a guy who used to have a xr250,

he never actually used the carb himself,it was given to him ,along with some

other bits when he bought his xr,which he's now sold,

i know next to nothing about these carbs,so maybe someone can help me out,

ive measured it and it looks like its 35mm,my first thought is its a bit big for my 1988 280,

any one agree/disagree,

i only use my bike for trail riding, and dont really need any more power, but a more

snappy response would be good, would this carb give me that,

looks like it would take some work to make it fit to the air box boot,so is it

worth persevering with or should i sell it and get something more suitable ?

Interesting...

Keihin have a 35mm flat slide kit on their website for the XR250..

I was thinking along the same lines as this, but can only find the 39mm flatslide off the CFR250 - which would probably be too big, and bog down on my standard XR250.

I'd say give it a spin - it'd probably be about right - especially with the 280 bore kit.

Mike.

From my reading about pumpers on the 400 it doesn't seem that size (mm) is as big a deal as it is with other type carbs. In other words it seems like there can be "too much carb" and not have it be a real problem (to a degree obviously). They (pumper carbs) are supposed to be easy to tune and most guys seem to really love them.

thanks for the replies guys,

looks like it could be worth having a go then,

captain beaky where did you see the kit for the xr,ive been trawling the net for

info and not seen any kits ,do you know if it has some sort of adaptor to fit the

airbox, not sure i'd be able to use the xr cables either, any idea ?

if anyone out there has used one,a keihin fcr35 pumper, i'd be very interested to know how

you got on with it,how you made it fit,how it performs etc,

thanks
