2007 KTM 525 EXC Bog Problem

Recommended Posts

I recently purchased a 2007 KTM 525 EXC with 1,100 miles on the bike. The bike idles fine and runs great once it has been put into gear and begins accelerating. Unfortunately, it often bogs out and kills itself when I go from a stopped position and begin accelerating. I have found that if I give the throttle a quick twist and get the rpm's up it will start accelerating. If I slowly open the throttle it will generally stall the engine.

I plan on changing the oil, oil filters, and air filter this weekend. Could it be that I need to clean out the carb? It idle's fine so I want to stay away from turning up the idle screw. I have read someone elses post below whom seemed to have the same problem. Seem like JK Leak Float Bowl may be the fix???

"Bike had a 1/4 throttle bog. Added a JD Leak Jet Float Bowl. Results?: Bog totally gone I cant believe these bikes dont come with the leak jet bowl cleaned up the carburation everywhere"

All comments/information appreciated. Thanks.
