will 89 cr250 forks fit onto my 88?

Recommended Posts

I have a lead on some decent forks from an 89 cr250 and I was wondering if they bolt right on to an 88?

If so what is the going rates for useable forks? $100 $50??

Thanks

If the forks don't fit, the steering stem and triple clamp should bolt up. I would pay no more than 100 bucks for the complete(forks, triple clamp and steering stem) setup.

You are better off keeping the 88 forks. The 89 upside down forks were junk. The 89 forks were very harsh with spikes thru out the travel. The 88 cartridge forks worked much better IMO. WD

thanks dood

the forks are 90 and if I'm not sure they will work I think I might just pass. Damn I was so hoping for inverted forks so I don't look like such a dork...

Don't worry about looking like a dork. I raced a 86/87/88/89 and as mentioned before the 89 forks were atrocious. The 1990 forks were marginally better but the frame geometry was different on the 90 so I don't think you should waste your money on them. Make sure your current forks have new fluid and good internal parts and enjoy what you've got.
