1990 Suzuki RM 125

Newb-

I need some help!!! Probably lots. I purchased a 90 Rm 125. When I first got it fuel was pouring out of the overflows. Took the carb off and cleaned it out, solved that. Now the bike will not fire at all. Put a new plug in and it is firing. Just backfires. Before I took the carb off it was also bogging down between gears, figured it was a carb or fuel problem. Also when throttle was wide open it would cut out a little. Need help on getting this thing back running, haven't opened up the top end yet?
