A question on a/p adjustment

Recommended Posts

I am wanting to check my a/p timing and looking at my manual, it says to use a rod to lift up slide about .031 high, to check the ap timing. My question is,

this measurment ia about the size of a spark plug gap. Is this correct? it seems awful small to me. The oval shaped notch on the slide is "taller" than that. Can someone please explain? Thanks.

That measure ment is correct. Be aware that this is only the setting to begin with, that further AP timing tweaking is done by riding the bike, adjust, riding some more.
