shrubitup Posted April 2, 2010 You know, Genuine Yamaha Technology Racing (GYTR). Do you pronounce it gator like alligator or do you spell out the letters? Getting odd looks from people when I say gator.🤣 At least it's not a chair bees or a kra poh vitch. 👍
mrboots Posted April 2, 2010 Personally I spell it out. Not sure if that's the correct way though...

Santan9 Posted April 2, 2010 but seriously though... abbreviations are not meant to be treated as words! the only one I can think of off hand is calling a gxr crotch rocket a "gixxer" which is normal. I was buying boots one day with a friend, gaerne brand, my friend called them "garns" in front of the salesman and the salesman turned his head sideways and was like w.t.f? I was quite embarrassed for some reason.. but calling GYTR a gator is asking for the weird looks, IMO. whats with your "chair bees" example, I dont get it. silentZ Posted April 2, 2010 I heard someone at a moto shop call Gaerne Gur-nee. Like Journey but with a G. I watched a Gaerne promotional video and they called it Gar-Ney. So I go with Gar-ney now. How about Leatt. LEE-At or Leet?

silentZ Posted April 2, 2010 I think Gaerne is the toughest dirtbike related term out there. When I first saw the name I thought it was pronounced gay-earn, naturally.
shrubitup Posted April 2, 2010 I think I just keep calling it gator and get the look of death. I like my Yamaha and the GYTR parts that go on it. 👍
