MotoX178 My Ride Posted April 4, 2010 Do a search, this is another huge debate. Personally when I just do a top end I let it warm up really well then I ride it hard.
crider400 Posted April 4, 2010 i let it idle for 10 min at a time (occasionally bliping the throttle litely). Wait 20 min, then same process 2 more times.
RunningC Posted April 4, 2010 We have had good luck with warming up the bike, go ride constantly on and off the throttle, not holding it in any position for longer than about 5 seconds. Ride it for about 10 minutes. Let it cool down completely then start the process over again. Do this 5 times then go ride it normally. My neighbor was a factory rider in the early 90's, he reccomended this and we haven't had any problems using this method.
1987CR250R Posted April 4, 2010 Idling an engine won't break it in. Ride it.
