Help- Rear wheel lockup

Recommended Posts

Guys Pls. give me your opinions.

I have a 2009 drz with only 100 miles on it.

While out on el mirage dry lake, by back tire locked up,

at about 45 mph, causing me to skid for about 20-25 ft.

At the same time the bike drop power, and shut off at about 25 mph.

I almost went down.

I put both my feet out to the sides just to make sure I was not riding the brake. I wasn't.

I turned the key off and started checking out the bike.

Nothing was in the chain or sproket or brake.

I was able to restart it an ride it without incident the rest of the day.

Any suggestion????

If it was a no-go afterwards I would say seized. But...

Go over it and then go over it again. Maybe take the rear wheel off, clean and grease the axle, check the function of the caliper, put the wheel back on, re-adjust the chain, check the chain alignment and then torque it all down to spec. The problem might present itself. All that should take you less than an hour.

If it's not a rear end problem there could be a gearbox issue.

I hope it doesn't happen again when you're in heavy traffic. That would really suck.
