Header Pipe Rust Clean up (VHT BBQ paint)

Recommended Posts

I plan on using a wire drill piece to get all the brown rust crap off my header pipe.

After I have removed all of the rust and black laquor what is the best step to take next?

I was thinking BBQ/stove paint (Not the spray paint! Too thin)

I would like buying a stainless header (or a powerbomb) to be the last resort.

The flash really brought up the ugly side

Note: I live in rainy London and my DRZ is stored outside under a cover.

most shops here you can get VHT exhaust paint which is pretty good, or go to B&Q and get barbeque. halfords also do some good exhaust paint, really solid enamel stuff

I used a wire wheel on a drill, some steel wool, washed it, cleaned it, sprayed with VHT very hot header paint and it's holding up great!
