Just bought 1988 Yamaha DT 50...looking for a power genorator

Recommended Posts

I just bought this old bike. A long time ago someone thought it would be a good idea to rip all the electronics out. It does have a spot for the battery and I assumed it required people to plug it into the wall to charge it.

But when I was looking for parts I saw that it has a generator.

I can not find it on the bike. I can't find a place where it should be.

Is this generator making electricity for the spark plug? If it does then that means its still there.

It's under the left hand crank case cover. It generates power for the ignition (spark plug) and for the lighting and charging the battery. The bike would not run if it was removed. I would imagine that the connections from it are still there for the lighting/battery but someone has probably removed the accessories. Find the wires that come out of the left side crank case cover (top of your parts diagram) and follow back to where there are plug(s).
