I picked up a 05 RMZ250 looks like its been taking care of but when I got it home I noticed that a bolt appeared to be missing after doing some research ive found out its the bolt that scews into the cam tensioner

the bolt shown on the front of part# 12048 is this just a cover bolt? the person i purchased the bike from took it for a ride to show me that everything was working.

I don't want to take it out if this is going to cause major damage please let me know Thanks!

There is a pin and a spring that go in with the bolt. It keeps tension on the adjuster. I would defenitly replace them but you will probrably be fine with a ride or two. The adjuster slide is a one way device it will continue to go in but can't come back out unless you un bolt the assembly and re set it. part # 12048 is an assembly not just a bolt.

Hope this helps
