qtipmon132 Posted April 8, 2010 i just threw together a big bore kit for my xr 50 with the whole shebang. i got head, carb, piston, cylinder, oil pump, etc. i go to heat cycle it, starts first kick, but heats up to be VERY hot quickly. After about 4 mins it's like Ive been riding all day. the top-end is getting oil and everything is in working order. Is this normal, or should i be concerned? intensem1rider Posted April 8, 2010 There is increased friction until the break in is completed, so there will be extra heat because of that, but also a big bore will always run a little hotter than stock, but not excessively.
adem188 Posted April 8, 2010 once an engine has been running IMO for even 1 minute IMO it will be the same heat / hotness as if you were riding all days cause if your are revving the engine but are moving then the engine will be cooled slightly and shouldn't go that hot and there shouldn't be a huge difference between temperature when idling and riding, IMO!
