Doc, which injury is worse short and long run...

Recommended Posts

4 years ago, I got a 3rd degree AC tear (for those of you that don't know, that is when the 3 tendons sever that connect your collar bone to your shoulder, instead of the collar bone breaking) It was the worse pain I had ever felt for 8 weeks straight. Did not opt for the surgery and feel 100% fine today, with the exception of my collar bone sticking up due to not being connected to my shoulder anymore. I have full range of motion.

So which is worse in the long term?.... Broken collar bone, or 3rd degree AC tear? Am I at risk for arthritis later down the road?

To me the collar bone fracture is worse. Arthritis is no longer a risk. It is a certainty here.
