Hard Starting

Recommended Posts

i just adjusted my intake valves and cleaned the carb. 3 rides ago. Now every time i try to start the bike i takes like 5 no throttle kicks then one kick with throttle, and sometimes it pops really loud when trying to start it (hot or cold). It wasn't like this before last ride but halfway through the ride it started doing this to me. What could it be? Valves? jet clogged? Spark plug? I want to have a good idea of what the problem could be before i start tearing into the bike.

If it didn't do it before you adjusted the valves I'd check your timeming again. If you agjusted your intakes cuz they were tight they might of tightened again.Maybe a fuel screw adjustment too.I don't know?

Would that also cause it to backfire when off the throttle?

Yes, cause its lean.

You could probably just loosen the carb clamps and tilt it sideways to drop the bowl and get to the jets.

Its a 1-2 beer job max.
