vintagemotard Posted April 9, 2010 Does anyone know if a late 80's early 90's cr500 engine will fit in a steel frame 94cr250 chassis without any modification? ie, without moving engine mounts?

mikea 2 Posted April 11, 2010 I think you would have to move the front engine mounts and you would definately have to change the headstay. The bottom mounts should line up. You will probaby have to change the spacers for the swingarm to align the sprokets correctly. The y on the front of the frame might be too low, and need to be modified to accomodate the taller cylinder. There are a bunch of cr500 rollers around from that time frame, from people ditching their steel frames for newer aluminum frames. You should be able to get something like that for 6-800. In fact, I would send you my 2001 cr500 steel frame for around 150+shipping. Most of the cr250 stuff should bolt right to the frame. Good luck.
