How much oil and drain plug questions!

Recommended Posts

I have been told to put 1.8 litres in my bike which is about 2 quarts but I read on here that it is 1 quart.

Which one is correct??! I have done about 10 miles on the bike with 1.8litres in it and want to know if I have damaged it if I have got too much oil in it.

Also I read that you are not supposed to remove the front drain plug (hex head) as it holds the shifter in place?

I have been removing both when draining the oil, is the reason for gear shift issues and neutral light coming on?

Thanks in advance for advice.

You need to get a skid plate and then drain the oil from the filter and screen holes as this will allow you to not remove the skid plate.

1.8 U.S. quarts = 57.59 U.S. liquid ounces (58 oz.)

1.8 U.S. quarts = 59.95 U.K. liquid ounces (60 U.K. oz)

Found this site great for any kind of conversions, whether it be volume or distance.

When I change oil and filter I use 1.5 liters of oil. Comes right to the middle of the marks on the oil sight glass on my 08 TE 250.
