2001 cr250 rear shock leak

Recommended Posts

Unless you are confident in your shock rebuilding skills, just send it out and have it done. I dont think its as easy as changing fork seals. But the seals will cost $30, then it is $40-60 to get it charged (at least around here) and then oil which is like $10. Or you can send it out and have it done professionally for $110 plus shipping.

EDIT: just looked it up and there are places that will recharge for around $20 but it depends on your local shop. I guess mine sucks.

Its not too bad doing. Depends on your skills.

You can buy a new complete "all balls" sealhead for $35, quart of oil $10, shock seal bullit $16, and a couple cans of brake cleaner.

My local shop only charges me $5 for a shot of nitrogen.

I have a motopower DVD to guide me thru it, but the service manual also does a good job. It isnt as difficult as a person might think.

But I know there are places around that only charge $60 for a oil change plus cost of any parts to replace. A local guy charged me $100 a couple years ago for a seal and oil change.
