ti components

Recommended Posts

Where did all the factory titanium components go - foot pegs, rear springs, etc. You get used to these being standard on mx bikes & then they disappear, but when they came on the bikes we were told how much better they were. haven't seen better prices since the ti is gone. 👍

I had been told by people in the biz that race, ti shock/suspension springs while only a couple pounds lighter had consistent spring rate throughout compression & lasted 5x longer than steel under race conditions. steel springs get stiffer throughout stroke/push back unevenly.

All marketing init? Convince people to buy Ti components in the mistaken belief it will make them faster......bit like carbon fibre really.

I was looking more at longevity & consistency of product than anything else, but have ridden dirt bikes from 72 to 04 with typical steel springs. Looked like a better mouse trap.

They realized that the bikes will sell for the same amount without the Ti, so more profit.
