Hard to start but runs awesome?

My 00 cr250 just had a makeover and its weird, its hard to start up... like i prime it by kicking it over real slow first few times... turn the fuel on... no throttle and kick it over hard and i have to do it like between 3 and 10 times sometimes... its weird, but the bike has tons of power.. i havent checked the compression and i did ride it all last summer and havent done a top end... so.... help please? lol

jetting, thats the first thing i would check out. And the float height, make sure its around spec. Also clean the jets etc. Check the reeds while your at it. Its most likly time for a top end and clean the power valve, it will run like new. Could not help but voodoo child is hendrix's best song. ?

Lol it has brand new boyesen reeds and im sure the carb was cleaned last summer... at least thats what i paid one of my douchebag racer friends to do... im not sure if he did it or not but now that i know how to do it myself i can... and yeah voodoo child is ONE of his best songs... but there are a lot more out there that are better ?

Even if the carb was clean last summer it can still be gummed up from sitting.

Check the compression first.

Check float level

also try to crack the throttle 1/4 open when kicking it over hard. It's not a thumper so dont worry about flooding it.
