CaptDan Posted April 11, 2010 (edited) whats this "R" you speak of? 👍 🤣🙂 In Yamaha terms, the letter at the end of the model designation denotes the year. 1974 = A 1975 = B 1977 = D 1978 = E 1979 = F 1980 = G 1981 = H 1982 = J 1983 = K 1984 = L 1985 = N 1986 = S 1987 = T 1988 = U 1989 = W 1990 = A 1991 = B 1992 = D 1993 = E 1994 = F 1995 = G 1996 = H (or H1) 1997 = J (or J1) 1998 = K (or K1) 1999 = L 2000 = M 2001 = N 2002 = P 2003 = R 2004 = S 2005 = T 2006 = V 2007 = W 2008 = X 2009 = Y 2010 = Z Some owners (usually former Honda owners) think the suffix is actually part of the model designation, but Yamaha’s use of it has been so sporadic and random that most owners drop it and just stick with stating the model year. I love those graphics, cant wait till I get mine in white, black, and gold (which should be here today).
