general drz Posted April 11, 2010 Put a kicker kit on my 08 400 s hard to start any tips?
MR Honda Posted April 12, 2010 How did it start before the the button? Have you ever had a bike with a kicker? I just did the kit myself, can't believe how easy it starts. I didn't put the comp release on my e. Try: Pull choke knob out, 2 twist of throttle, then don't twist while starting. With foot on kicker, push down lightly until it ratchets to the top and your feel resistance. Oh yeah, don't forget to pull the clutch lever in, unless you've killed that switch. An "s"...kickstand up? another safety switch there. Now put all your weight on your right leg, firmly pushing the lever down ALL THE WAY, don't think about stopping halfway. It's more of a "slamming it down" vs "kicking"...when it lights up, let it ratchet up right away.
GOF1 Posted April 12, 2010 No accelerator pump on the S. Twisting the throttle won't add that extra fuel on a cold start. I have the kick on my S and it starts great when warm. When cold, well, not so great. With the button it always starts easy.

GOF1 Posted April 12, 2010 You talking about mine or the OPs? I have. To the recommended specks with the JD kit and 3x3. Not sure about the Os settings though.
