redswr Posted April 12, 2010 So... The last few times I've drank my throat all the way to my stomach has been feeling dry and sore and my stool has been black and like tar. I've been drinking less each time and feeling worse after... Not drunk at all but the above feelings. I only drink whiskey and cokes when I go out and just Dr. Pepper when I'm not drinking. I probably get a gallon of water every two weeks... Have I completely screwed up my system?
984 Posted April 12, 2010 your crap is pale because your liver is no longer producing bile to properly breakdown and digest food. it's probably black because either you have blood in your stool ((stomcaj ulcers or gird) or you are taking in so much sugar. without getting into a discussion about your lifestyle, try not drinking any alcohol for two weeks and see what happens. if these are your worst symptoms, just lay off the booze for a little while and you'll be fine. two weeks of healthy living to reset your system. I used to drink (as in alcohol) very frequently. I didn't necessarily get drunk, but my tolerance for alcohol was becoming very high. I cut out about 95% of that and never felt better. Just sayin... silentZ Posted April 14, 2010 I used to drink quite a bit and as a result I was diagnosed with a hiatal hernia and GERD. Before I went to the Gastrointerologist I would take Pepto Bismol to try and fix it which caused my tongue to get rough and discolored. It was hard to swallow for a while. After I stopped, everything cleared up. The doc said it all had to do with my diet. It sounds like you are binge drinking. I see you are 24 and I know lots of young adults who like to party. Do yourself a favor and go easy on the liquor for a bit. If you adjust your diet to get good foods and liquids in your system, I am pretty sure you will see improvements in your health. If you are going to continue drinking a lot, I would steer clear of Tylenol and Advil. Tylenol will probably damage your liver more and Advil will continue to tear up your stomach. Good luck
redswr Posted April 14, 2010 Yeah and the fact that I used to be on a test booster, weight loss pills, and drinking a pre and post workout shake probably tore up a bunch of stuff... I still drink protein shakes every now and again when I don't have time for a good meal but the others I've been off of for a while.
