I had a CR250 that required 290psi of nitrogen.

Air is unstable and pressure can fluctuate between a cold/hot. Nitro' is stable...it won't gain/loose any pressure.

How is the sag ?

Does it squat a lot when you sit on the bike????

Might have to crank in a round or 2 of extra preload.

Don't mess with the shock fitting, it has to be done with nitrogen in a shop. Like Old Timer said you need to adjust the preload for your weight first. If it still stays down you might need a shock rebuild.
