superslyko Posted April 12, 2010 I'm locked solid in 4th. No movement up or down with the gear shifter. It starts fine and I can feather the clutch to get her to roll. No grinding or mashing of teeth noise. Ugh. The bike is a 2001 KTM 300 MXC. Help. I love this bike and don't want to cut the cord yet. 👍
1.21GW Posted April 12, 2010 I'm betting on a bent shift fork. Good luck 👍

superslyko Posted April 12, 2010 OK. But what's a shift fork? What's it look like? How do I get to it? Do I split the cases or just remove the clutch & clutch basket? Give me more! More! More! I'll be forever indited to you! 👍
cubera My Ride Posted April 12, 2010 Not sure how it shakes out exactly on the KTM but I think you have to split cases to fix it. Lrts us know what you find out!
Mike in Fresno Posted April 12, 2010 Scott, first try removing the right side case, the large one. Look for loose parts or rollers in the shift mechanism. You may have to remove the clutch hub to get to it all. Hopefully its in those parts. After that then its split the cases time to get to the gears and forks.
