What are stock sprocket sizes?

Recommended Posts

I just bought a 2004 DR-z400s that has a 15 tooth front and 44 tooth rear sprocket. The Clymer manual says that stock on the "S" is 15/41. From my searches here, it looks like 15/44 is actually stock. Can anyone clear this up for me?

I feel like I am running out of gears to fast on the highway.

Thanks everbody .... this is a great forum.

15/44 is correct for the "S", while the "SM" comes with 15/41.

Exactly... Also the DRZ also feels like it needs another gear on the highway.... Its not really a great cruiser for highway speeds (75 or better for a long time). You can do it, but it will be buzzy as hell. If you gonna be all highway you can do better with smaller in the rear or larger in the front (driven makes a 16 that fits) Its all trade off's with gearing, your moving power around from low end to top end, etc....
