150 vs 250sx input...+ where to find?

Recommended Posts

OK. Couple of questions...

1. Who has experience riding the 250 and 150 and what do you think especially about the 150?

2. Where are these bikes hiding for sale? new or used?!

I have been racing for many years 125/250/450. I typically race 250 2 strokes as my main bike. I have always had 125 and 250's in the garage and REALLY like 125's. I am trying to decide wether to get another 250 to go with my 125 again or just buy a 150 and do everything on it.

I keep hearing how the 150 does not lack for power against the 4 strokes and handles great. Has anyone been racing the big bikes and gone with the 150 recently?

The KTM's must be good bikes because I rarely see them for sale and the 150 new, or clean used is even more scarce. Does anyone know where i can find a clean used or deal on a new 150? If not then maybe even a 250... Within a few hours Indiana.

Thanks for the input. 150 for sale anyone?

I am selling a 2008 KTM 144 SX. It is my wifes bike, and she is pregnant so she can't ride it anymore. It is in great shape. It is all stock except it has white plastic with new graphics, and the motor was just rebuilt with a wiseco piston. It has been rode about 2-3 hours since. Ready to ride or race. Pulls like a 250 2-stroke, way more power than a 250F, and only weighs 200 lbs.

Bike is 99% showroom condition. Clean Title in hand.

Asking $2,995 O.B.O.

Thanks josmoloco. I will email him.

I was looking for newer than an 08 because I heard they had cylinder/piston? issues. So this leads to...

Does anyone know about the 08 and what the issues were with them and what needs to be fixed?

The issues should have been taken care of under warranty at the dealer. I wouldn't worry about it.

I've ridden them at the demo days the last few years and I think its probably the perfect bike. More power than a 250f, feels like a 200, light as any 125. Feels like a mtn bike really.

I owned an 07 144SX for a short while. Lots of fun to ride and felt very light. Rode it back to back with my buddies 07 250SX - which is also a very light bike (only about 8 lbs heavier than the 150SX). It takes a lot more focus and work to keep the speed up on the 150SX compared to the 250SX. I ended up selling the 144SX after a few months and went back to the 250SX. I also weigh 190lbs in street clothes so basically too heavy for the 150SX. Just an opinion from someone who has owned both bikes - and both are fun bikes to ride so you will no go wrong with either. Of course you should consider one of the new 2011 2-strokes as they have a new frame and plastic and the 250 has engine update too for more power....decisions decisions!!
