DR250 timing chain is shot

Recommended Posts

Should I replace the gears with the chain? Other motors I've done work on I've always treated them as a set. Is that necessary here?

The cam gears are very hard... I had to use a special carbide drill to put a hole in my DR650's cam gear for my FI project so they are far and away harder than any type of regular chain sprocket. I'd just inspect them to see if they show wear.... or just spend the $23 for the cam sprocket and $26 for the crank sprocket to go along with your $46 cam chain and have total peace of mind....🙂
