05 Radiator hose melted

Recommended Posts

So this is my first post.... I just picked up an 05 Crf450r. it is my first bike and I have really enjoyed the past few weeks!

While out on a ride today I noticed coolant leaking from the hose that comes from the pump, then I noticed it was melted to the exhaust pipe. This is the first time I had seen it like that.

The only thing I can think of is I laid it down on the exhaust side once but it wasn't that hard of a crash. Is that what did it and is the exhaust easy to bend back?/

Thanks!

I just put a new set of hoses on my 04. With a little trimming of the hose ends, (about 1/4") you'll be able to keep the hoses away from the pipe and head. I think I paid 20.00 for the hoses on e bay last year.

4 stroke exhausts run extremely hot making the hoses even more vulnerable to burning threw especially from minor bent pipe crash damage.

Silicone radiator hoses withstand a much higher temperature than stock rubber hoses. Stock Y connectors can also fail......Y hoses eliminate this potential failure.
