klx 140L exhaust

Recommended Posts

I have had 2 kids on a klx 140L crash and burn their right leg on the header pipe. Is there a fix for this? The first one ended up with 3rd degree burns. Any time the bike goes down with the header side up, the rider's leg is laying right on the header. Does aftermarket exhaust bend sooner and head to the muffler, so as there is no exhaust pipe near the footpeg? Thanks for the help.

Even with a heat shield on any header and exhaust, the metal is still hot enough to burn. You can look into the shields, but the kids need to have riding boots and good pants on regardless. My girlfriend has spilled many times in the same way on her stock 140L and has not received any burns. She is geared from head to toe, including a neck brace. Precious cargo on a fiesty little bike.
