Cooling system leak in frame

Recommended Posts

I have an 08 300 that has started leaking coolant from the "T" connector that is inside the frame and links the top of the two radiators. It looks like the rubber boot on one side has a small hole in it.

This T also has a long aluminum tube that goes down and out the bottom of the frame and connects to a hose that goes to the thermostat housing. I don't know how this tube is connected to the "T", since there is no clamp to do this, and the parts fiche doesn't show any threads on the top of this tube to screw it into the "T" The T is actually three pieces, with a rubber boot on each side and a metal center section, but the rubber boots are attached with permanent hose clamps.

So my questions are:

1. How do you remove the aluminum tube from the T?

2. How do you remove the "T" from the frame?

You have to have a special tool to unthread the vertical part of the T from the top part. Once unthreaded the bottom part comes out the bottom and the top out of either side once the rubber boots are taken off. Pretty stupid setup IMO.
