Doctor visits after ORIF surgery

Recommended Posts

So I recently had ORIF surgery on March 5, 2010 to fix a broken distal humerus and broken distal radius.

My insurance is about to run out and I'm enrolling with new insurance and they may deny coverage on my arm because of a "pre-existing condition."

I've seen the doctor 4 times already.

1. 1.5 weeks after surgery to remove staples.

2. 5 weeks after surgery to take xrays and evaluate.

3. 10 weeks after surgery to take xrays and evaluate.

4. 14 weeks after surgery to take xrays and evaluate.

5. I will see the doctor again 21 weeks after surgery to take xrays and evaluate.

I obviously want to get my arm right, but if everything looks good after seeing the doctor 21 weeks after surgery, when should I see the doctor again? I'll obviously ask the doctor, but I just wanted a second opinion from the Dr. Mark. Also, what would be the time frame you would see your patients?

Thank you.

If the bone is healing, and the motion is satisfactory, then the viists are for the most part "social" and future expenses even if you have to go out of pocket should be less than a trip to the bike store. If your bone isn't healing and you face more surgery, then keep the same policy.
