Bike wil run a tooth out of time, good too.

Recommended Posts

I have had the cam out of my bike many times, each time the timing marks never perfectly lined up. This time I changed the crank and a new timing chain. The marks were off a little like the other 10 times. I buttoned it up and rode it, it was a bitch to start but had a ton of low end. I thought it was the new rings. I rode the woods yesterday and noticed it would flame out easy. Talking about it my buddies and I decided to check the timing. Using the inner crank timing mark the marks now indeed line up perfectly. Starts on one kick now.

Strange it ran so good, idled good.

Each gear on the crank has a punch mark on it. The outter gear mark is in the middle of a tooth and the lower gear the mark is between the teeth. The little differance and the fact I put on a new chain lead to my mistake.

Didn't seem to cause any problems.
