2010 Kawasaki KX250F Piston-problems

Recommended Posts

I have seized 2 stock pistons in 2 different 2010 KX250Fs recently, anyone else had that problem? One seized because of heat (the hot-start cable was stuck slightly open, so that´s my mistake) and the other cracked from the left side to the center for some unknown reason and then seized at the end of the crack. I heard there are pistons with some kind of groove between the compression ring and the top of the piston that´s supposed to make them stand more heat, has anyone tried those and does anyone know where I could get one if they work?

For how long did it run with the second piston?

Maybe the first mishap clogged an oil passage? Are you sure you got everything out?

Did you re-use the cylinder or get a new one?

92 octane would be the minimum! 90 octane is to low and will definatly having preigntion resuling is damage..

as far as better gas, well yes I would say switch your current gas provider. BP, Shell, any big name company that will be less likly to put 87 octane mixed with 92 resuling in lower octane gas
