Bad air boot to air box seal???

Recommended Posts

That's pretty much it. Remove the boot from the box, clean the garbage glue out with a screwdriver and some brake cleaner and re-seal with the black hi-temp RTV. You must separate the boot from the box. Taking the metal plate off and sealing it doesn't do anything. Your valves will thank you later! Once that's done, just make sure that the filter is seated right. If you pulled the backfire screen, the plastic cage is not very durable and it's easy to install the filter and not have it seal correctly. I've also noticed that some of the aftermarket filters don't seal as well as others. I personally use the stock filters. I think they seal around the box about the best.
