DRZ-400SM AP Tuning

Recommended Posts

Hi folks.

Recently I purchased slightly used FCR-39MX from my friend.

This is exactly the carb that TT have in the shop.

It has no leak jet, no TPR and jetted exactly as TT sells it.

During disassembing the carb from the bike I immidiately noticed black deposits on the sparking plug. I have run this bike before and it has off-throttle bog.

It is clear to me that AP tuned far too rich.

What duration should have AP squirt for DZR-400MS?

How should I tune the duration if carb has no leak jet port?

Thanks.

Duration or amount is the same egg from different view angle.

At the moment the squirt is about 3 seconds.

It is far too long.

The squirt is definitely affeting other carb systems - running rich.

So, do you propose to do the linkage mode and get longer post diaphragm, right?

What about R&D PowerShot 2?

no,they are not the same egg. duration is the time. amount is the volume.

you just wire the linkage and turn the timing screw in a half turn.

you cant run a longer diaphram post or the linkage will bind with the wire.

you can buy a adjustable pump cover if you want but you will just end up with the fully closed. at that point its just carb jewelry.

no need to make this harder than it is. its really simple.

I did not understood the "you cant run a longer diaphram post or the linkage will bind with the wire". Could you please explain it little more.čśĆ

when you wire the arms they can no longer seperate. with the longer diaphram post the travel is limited and with out the wire the arms seperate at wide open throttle. if you wire it this way it will break the linkage.

Of coars.

Before I will install the long post diaphragm and tune to 1sec and only after will do the link mod. Did I uderstood you correctly?

the wire forces all of the squirt early therefore shortening the duration.

you are making this way too hard.

I am just trying to understand the mechanics behind.

I had similar problem on my previous EXC400 equipped with very old FCR-39.

I solved it with longer post and grinding it off untill had perfect no-bog start.
